Drew's First Sunday

Drew went to Sunday morning service for the first time last week.  He was so cute in his little polo onesie.  We didn't get a family picture or just a picture of him out of his carrier before church so we planned to snag one after...

But then, Drew had a blow out diaper in the middle of class.  His very first blow out diaper.  :(  Stinker.  He ended up in a clean onesie and we failed to get "Drew's first Sunday Family Picture."  Besides the blowout, Drew did good.  He made the whole Sunday Service with only one very audible toot/burp combo, a case of the hiccups and a few loud grunts thrown in for good measure!  :)

Ava's 5 Year Stats

Ava turned 5 on May 14th and I failed to post her growth updates.  It's not like anything much was going on in May...just end of school for Ava, Carli & Keith...birthdays for Ava, Logan, Grammy and Uncle Tone...wedding showers, tball games, baby showers, mother's day...plus being 8 months prego...nah, no excuses!

Ava had an amazing year as a four year old!  Most notably she grew four inches in one year!  At least she still has some of her baby round face left...maybe she'll hold on to that for a bit longer!

At 5 years old, Ava was 42.75 inches tall (56 percentile) and 47.6 lbs (87 percentile).  Ava is very long bodied, so she can wear her sister's size 6 shirts, but has short little legs; thus, Uncle Tone's nickname of Stumpy is very fitting.  She takes after her Momma - her legs are all muscle!

Sick Girls, Growing Baby

We've been having decent nights with Drew.  He'll wake twice a night and then early in the morning but usually goes right back to sleep.  So I sleep in 2 hr increments but the baby doesn't scream at me so I call it good!  Last Monday night, Drew had a really good night.  Unfortunately after the 1 am feeding the girls started coming into our room complaining of hurting heads and sore throats.  I was pretty much up most of the night with the girls.  Ava ran a high fever and Carli moaned and groaned about her stomach.

Drew was scheduled to go in for a weight check on Tuesday morning.  I called and begged for an apt for the girls as well, might as well check them all out.  Grammy was suppose to be going with Pa to Louisana for the day but quickly changed her plans to come to our rescue.  By the time we got to the Pedi's office both girls were running fevers, Carli's stomach cramps were back and Ava's throat hurt.  Doc said probably virus but put us on antibiotics just in case and ran a long culture strep test just in case.  Thankfully she gave us some Zofran for nausea too.

Drew had a great doctor visit.  After only one week, he gained 14 oz to surpass his birth weight at a whooping 9 lbs 3 oz.  Woohoo!  Those every two hour feedings paid off!

The girls started feeling better on Wednesday but stayed in their pj's most of the day.  They ran low grade fevers but started to eat a bit more and didn't complain of their stomachs or throats.  Keith got home at 5 and both girls got a burst of energy, fevers and all.  They ran into their room and came out dressed and demanding to go play some ball with Keith.  There are so many reasons why that makes me smile!!

By Thursday morning we were all back to our bouncing off the walls, full of sass selves!  The strep culture came back negative.  I am thankful that the virus ran it's coarse quickly and so far Keith, Drew and I have been spared!

First Walk

On Monday last week the girls begged and I gave into taking Drew on his first walk.  The good stroller needed air in the tires, so we took the lightweight stroller.  The girls took turns pushing Drew and to Drew's credit he didn't scream at us the entire walk.  He even stayed awake the whole time!

I think he enjoyed himself!

And it wore him out.  You would have thought Whitey Tighty had gone on the walk with us, it didn't take long for both dog and baby to stretch out and conk out!

Hard Sleeper

Drew is still technically a newborn and I can only hope that he continues to sleep as well as he has the last three weeks.  When the boy is asleep, he's out!

Check out our rolls!  We are starting to get a bit chunky!

Diamond Diva End of Season Party

Last Saturday, the girls t-ball team had their end of the season party.  They were pretty excited about the party and drove Keith and I nuts all day asking if it was time to go!

Keith and the girls headed to the party at 4:45.  Grammy & Pa came to the house about 6:30 and watched Drew for me so I could go for a bit and see all the girls.

Coach Steven and his wife Jessica hosted the party and with Coach Smo's help, they had quite the set up!  Two water slides and a pool, plus a play set, pizza, nachos and all the fixings!

Coach Smo's wife made an amazing cake.  Between pizza, nachos, cake and ice cream there was plenty of energy to go around for all the water play!

I had to leave to go home before the end of the party.  They ended the night with some amazing fireworks.  What an awesome way to end the season!  We made a lot of new friends, and new memories.  The girls learned a lot and for all of the experiences, friends and time we spent with on the t-ball field, we are grateful.

Baby Drew - The First Two Weeks

Here's a blog post of mostly pictures of our cute little man.  The last two weeks have been great.  Drew is a great baby.  He nurses well, and isn't often fussy.  We've even gotten him to sleep in four hour stretches at night a couple of times.  Drew loves his paci, and yes, he is still wearing mittens b/c I have a fear of cutting baby finger nails.  He is a bit jaundice but that is slowly going away.  We aren't quite up to our birth weight yet, but after the last couple of days of nursing consistently every two hours we should achieve that goal by the time we go back for a weight check on Tuesday.  The girls LOVE Drew and he tolerates all their kisses and "pets" pretty well.  With all that said...here's a few pics of our little man...

At one week old, Drew was back to 8 lbs 3 oz at his weight check.  At 2 weeks he was 8 lbs 5 oz.  He has to get back to his birth weight before we can stop with the weight checks.  After the demand of nursing this weekend, I'll be surprised if he doesn't hit or exceed his birth weight of 8 lbs 9 oz.

He takes his paci & nursing very seriously.

Bad lighting makes him look a bit yellow - but look how long he is!

Sporting his new onsie from Uncle Tone & Aunt Lollie while he naps after his pictures this week.

State Tournament Game 3 vs Bosqueville

Our second game on Tuesday night was against Bosqueville.  This was their first game of night vs our second.  I actually missed most of the game b/c I had to go back to Fairfield to pump and it took longer than I expected.  Dad did a good job of sending me updates.  He said it was very obvious that our girls were tired.  They did not play as well as they did earlier that night.

Ava did not play b/c she got a cut on her thumb and played the hurt card.  She preferred to cheer.  Stinker.

Carli did play the whole game and got on base each time she hit.

We came up short after 4 innings and ended our season placing 11th in the whole state.

The tournament director did an awesome job talking to the girls and telling them what an accomplishment getting to the state tournament was.  And then he presented them with a trophy.

We honestly never expected to even make it out of league play much less get to the state tournament.  The girls learned a lot and got an amazing experience for their first time to play tball.  We were truly blessed to have been a part of this amazing little team.  Honestly though, the girls are tired and ready for a bit of a break and who can blame a 6 & 5 year old?!  :)  They are very excited to go to their end of the season tball party this Saturday!

Coach Smo brought cupcakes for all the girls and for Ava - that was the highlight of the night.  :)

Drew did an awesome job with Mom and Aunt Carolyn.  He actually took a bottle.  He slept the 2 hrs on the way home and then slept most of the night.  I am so excited to have a baby who actually takes a bottle!  Neither of the girls would take a bottle.  We got home a little after midnight - the girls slept til past 9:30.  All in all our first "family outing" was a success with lots of help from our family!  :)
