Best Buds

Shea is by far the best of the three dogs with Carli. Yesterday, I sat Carli on the mini poof chair, which is actually one of the dog beds that she has claimed as her own. Anyway, I sat her down and we were reading a book and Shea climbed right up next to her to cuddle. It was pretty stinkin' cute!

Nursing Covers!

One of the things I used the most with Carli when I nursed was this awesome nursing cover that Ashley sent me. I loved the thing b/c it had a hoop so that I could see Carli and help her latch on in the early months. Plus the strap around the neck kept her from pulling the cover off and exposing us to the world! I wanted to buy one for a few of my friends but $45-$50 for just a plain jane cover was a bit much for me. So I started talking to my Aunt Carolyn. She is an amazing seamstress and she got her creative mind to work. So, I'd like to share with you all her nursing cover. They are amazing! Not only does she use way cute fabrics, but she will monogram the baby's name or whatever you want on the cover. She will also throw in two matching monogrammed burp cloths all for $50! An awesome deal, and the cover is awesome! So I've posted her little announcement and contact info below. If you can't read this - just leave me a comment or send me an email and I'll put you in contact with her. So if you are expecting a little, or have someone who is - let me tell you - this is an awesome gift idea and it will get put to good use!

Identity Crisis

We have always been told that our dogs don't know that they are dogs b/c we treat them just like our babies. Have you heard of your baby doesn't know she's a baby? ha! Carli's best buds are her three puppy dogs. The boys are a little more distant than Shea, but they all have their quirks and they all love Carli. Carli loves to stand by the windows in the living room and look outside. She gets even more excited if her puppy dogs are outside playing. Recently, she must have started wandering how they got outside. She started following them to the kitchen and sticking her hand out the doggie door. Yesterday, she decided she wanted to go outside too! So now I must keep the baby gate to the kitchen closed, unless I want Carli to end up outside too!

Chuy, what'cha doing?
Chuy! Where did you go?!
Are you out here?!
No worries, I'll come to you!
I had to put the camera down to catch Carli has she came barrelling out of the door...never a dull moment in this house!

A new use for the Bumbo

Never one to disappoint - Carli would like to demonstrate her new use of the bumbo seat for you all. This probably entertains her for 15 minutes at a time these days.

A Weekend with Naggy & Pappy

Last weekend we were blessed to have Naggy and Pappy come see us - well, come see Carli really. Someone told us, when the grandparents come to visit, the parents should leave! We figured we would try this out. Naggy and Pappy are the kind of folks that want to do and do and do for other ppl and when they come to our house that is exactly what they do. They always want to help us do a project or something of that sort and we are by no means complaining. If it had not been for their numerous visits, our bathroom would have never been renovated, our walls would not have been painted and Carli's nursery would not have been so stinkin' cute! But this visit was all about them spending time with their precious granddaughter. So what better way to ensure that they devote all their attention to her, than to leave her with them?! So that is what we did on Saturday. It was Grandparents day in the Hays' home and Carli had a blast! Get ready for a ton of pictures!

Check out those walking skills!
Reading Peter Rabbit to Naggy
Giving her baby a kiss
Carli loves to read!
Pappy had the best day!
At the end of the day we all met to eat, excuse the way we look, Keith and I painted all day. Carli had a wonderful day and ended it with some good ice cream!
Sunday Morning Breakfast - mmmm, donuts!
Helping Momma and Naggy put together some teacher gift "baskets"
Got a little play time in at the play ground
Kisses good by from Naggy

Carli See...

It seems that when you have a baby - the baby wants to play with the dog toys and the dogs want to play with the baby toys. Carli has become the dogs new best friend when it comes to eating - not so much when it comes to playing. That doesn't stop Carli from trying to play with them. Tuesday night, Chuy decided he wanted to play with Carli's toys, which Carli didn't think was very fair. So after watching him a few minutes, she decided she would take her toy back!

Some of our Favorite Things

Carli had an awesome wkd last wkd. It was full of traveling, ppl she loves and of coarse lots of playing...

We started off Saturday morning bright and early and headed to see Uncle Kevin. Uncle Kevin has a pool and Carli is loving to "swim" these days, so off we went!

Carli is Kevin's favorite niece!
(Helps that she is the only one too!)
After the hard work of swimming and rinsing off - it was off to a favorite of her Mom's - Rosa's!! Couldn't pass up an opportunity like that! Good food and good company. Carli showed Uncle Kevin her new skill of feeding herself and making a huge mess in the process!

Carli has a new fascination with glasses and hats.
Our visit with Uncle Kevin was short but good. We headed next to Aledo to see Grammy's side of the family. It was time for the annual Smith Family get together. The best part about these get together's is the singing. That side of our family can flat sing! I didn't quite inherit that gene, but the others were quite enjoyable to listen too.

Carli thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon of cheesin' at everyone and playing with her cousin Logan. The always seem to pick up right were they left off.

Aren't they cute?
After the festivities in Aledo - it was off to Dallas to stay the night with Uncle Danny. We went to church with Uncle Danny Sunday morning. Carli even went to Sunday School Class all by herself. But I got paged half way through class, they apparently tried to change her diaper and that is Carli's new least favorite thing. She got herself so worked up over it, no one could calm her down. So I sat in there the rest of class and she did just fine.

That afternoon, Grammy and I went with my good friend Amber to IKEA. We had a good chance to catch up with Amber and do a little shopping too. Carli stayed with all the men folk and attempted to show off some walking skills. Apparently she took a few steps. She has tried a couple of times for me as well. She gets a little anxious after two steps and lunges forward most times...so I'm not qualifying these as the first steps...not yet anyway!

We headed home Sunday afternoon - we got home to a houseful of puppies and one pretty awesome dog sitter. Our friend Ashley has been a lifesaver for us this summer. She comes and stays with our dogs in all our travels. This time, WT had a bit of an issue, and Ashley was amazing. She took care of him in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday and that afternoon managed to get him in to see the vet. Then she stayed at our house with him until we got home that evening! Really she went above and beyond what we could have asked of her and we are very thankful and indebted to her! So Ashley if you read this...thanks again - you are awesome!

Big Girl Bow

Check out Carli's new bow! Aunt Chelle gave us this bow in March and said, it may be awhile but it was just too cute! Well, awhile came a bit sooner than I expected! Carli wore the bow all evening at church and never even touched it! Can't say the same for the headband bows which quickly become a blindfold or necklace after putting it on! This bow is a snap clip, and it stayed on really really well. (Goodness, I was a little excited about this post with all it's exclamation points.)

Bath Time!

Carli most definitely has been earning her baths lately. She is a hard playing little girl and dirt does not stop her! Add that to all the drooling she did yesterday - perhaps she is working on some teeth (knock on wood) - being in Alto and crawling all over creation, she was quite the sight last night. Carli likes to watch us run her bath, and last night she was playing with her toys as the water ran. She dropped some toys in the tub and tried to climb right in after them! At least we taught her that hygiene is important! Ha!

It Only Takes Once...

Carli got to see her Uncle Andy on Saturday as he was in Alto working too. She has turned into quite the Momma's girl, but she would make faces at him from a distance and he returned the favor! He stuck his tongue out at her just once, and she copied him...and so it began...

And a day later - still a favorite face to make!
