Galvaston Vacation: Day Three

Monday morning the girls were ready for the beach!  As soon as breakfast was eaten they were in their swim suits and ready to go!  We got out to the beach around ten.  Turns out the beach wears the little stinkers out and they actually slept past seven!

There was no hesitation to get in the water for either girl.  They ran right in and had a blast!

There goes Ava...

After some frolicking in the surf we all did a sea shell hunt, and then come back to play in the sand.  Turns out the ocean air and wind work wanders for cleaning out Ava's sinuses.  After about an hour on the beach, she craweled up in my lap and said she was done.

Ava burying Momma's foot.

We held her off long enough for the girls to go fill their bottles with sand from their first trip to the beach.  You can tell by the look in Ava's eyes that she is exhausted!

A quick bite to eat and baths and it was time for some nice long naps!  After naps we headed out to Moody Gardens.  I'll have another post on that...the girls loved it!  We finished up there and headed to Fish Tales for some yummy dinner.  The girls were in awesome moods and we were early enough that we didn't have to wait for a table.

After dinner we headed back to the condo. We decided to walk out to the beach to check on a sand castle that a professional guy had been working on that morning. It wasn't as impressive as we had imagined, but it was still pretty neat.

We had a little time to kill before we tried to get the girls to bed.  Uncle Danny's time share had a play ground and mini golf course.  The girls played a bit on the play ground and we decided to show them how to play mini golf.  It was the fastest round of mini golf we have every "played."

Keith showed the girls hit the ball.

After the first hole, Ava took it upon herself to make sure the ball made it in the hole every single time.  :)  Needless to say, it was a very relaxed game of mini golf!

The girls went down to bed easily and Keith and I got to visit with Uncle Danny for a bit before crashing ourselves.  It was a great day!

Galvaston Vacation: Day Two

Our second day in Galvaston was a Sunday.  We went to church that morning.   It was actually a pretty cool, and interesting service.  The congregation was celebrating the success of their prison ministry and so their prison minister and some of the inmates who had been released actually did the service.  Everybody preached.  Literally.  The fellow in charge of leading singing preached a little before the song started.  The guy who did communion prayer preached before the prayer.  The one in charge of closing prayer preached so long that the minister stood up and asked if he planned to pray!  :)  It was really neat because they were all so grateful - and that's really what they talked about.  Every single one of them giving thanks for the open hearts and support of the church.  The funniest part was after communion there was some confusion about passing the plate for the offering.  They never did that part of the service while they were in prison.  :)

Anyway, church went a little long. Afterward we came back to the condo for some lunch.  I had hoped the girls would nap but they were too excited.  So we got ready and went to the beach.  We stayed about an hour and a half.  The girls had a lot of fun.  We tried to build sand castles but Ava thought we were building them for her to smash.

Carli got a bit frustrated with her destroying the princess castles.  So Uncle Danny and I distracted Ava by "making castles" for her to destroy while Carli and Keith built their own castle.

Here is a quick picture of their masterpiece before Ava came along and promptly stepped on it.  :)

Ava is fearless of the water.  It didn't bother her when a wave would knock her over.  She just stood back up and went for more.  We had to keep a close eye on her.  She and her daddy went "way out" in the ocean to "jump" waves and had a blast.  Carli was a bit more cautious but before the day was over she let her daddy take her out in the ocean too to jump the waves.  Carli much preferred collecting sea shells.  We came home with a bowlful.

The girls wore themselves out.  It was almost five when we got back to the condo but it was so obvious they needed to nap.  We gave them an hour and a half.  Ava took full advantage...

It took some coaxing but we finally got the girls to wake up so that we could go back into Galvaston to eat at Pleasure Pier.  Pa had told us we needed to make sure to eat at Bubba Gumps.  I think we waited over two hours to eat.  The girls were kept entertained by watching the rides and the ppl.

They didn't quite understand that they were not big enough to ride any of the rides.  I told them that Pa would bring them back and take them on the rides when they were bigger.  :)

I'm not a seafood eater.  But Keith and Uncle Danny are and they said Bubba Gumps was very good.  I only eat popcorn shrimp...and well I cover it in ketchup.  So really my opinion on the food really doesn't count.  :)  Keith for sure got his seafood fix while we were in Galvaston b/c he doesn't get any at home that is for sure!

Keith and Ava with the big shoes.

Keith cracks me up.  Every restaurant we went to, he and Carli would color.  And when Carli got distracted and quit coloring, Keith did not.  In fact, we brought one colored menu home to display on the art wall, in a picture frame.

Supper was good but it was late when we got done.  It didn't stop the girls from checking out the boat sandbox before we headed back to the condo.

The girls were exhausted.  They had had so much fun!  One thing we are learning about having girls is how emotional they are.  Carli and Ava were laying in their beds almost asleep when Carli rolls over, looks at me with tears swimming in her eyes and says, "Momma, I just need to see my baby Shea-shea."  Out of no where, she totally is a basket case over not seeing her dog Shea for two days.  It took lots of talking and promises before she calmed down and fell asleep.

The first words out of her mouth the following morning were, "I need to see my Shea-shea today."  So Grammy sent us a text msg picture of Shea to assure Carli that all was well.  Oh boy, something to look forward to.  :)

Galvaston Vacation: Day One

The weekend finally came and we reloaded the car and headed out for Galvaston.  The girls were very excited to say the least!  We made a stop in Alto to leave the dogs with Grammy and Pa and we were off again to meet up with Dionna and little Weston for lunch.  Our timing with Uncle Danny was pretty good because he actually got to meet us for lunch too!  The girls had lots of fun playing at Chick-fil-a.  We enjoyed getting to visit with Dionna and hold Weston.  Even Ava insisted on loving the cute little boy!

After lunch, we loaded back up and headed out for Galvaston.  We were very impressed that Carli did not request a bathroom break during the whole trip from our house to Galvaston.  Just a side note, because on our way home from San Antonio last month we had to stop at least five times.  :)  We celebrate the small things.  Ha!

We got into Galvaston and immediately stopped at Walmart to get some groceries.  Uncle Danny's timeshare is about 25 minutes oustide of Galvaston so we didn't want to back track.  We got out of the car at Walmart and Carli immediately latches on to Uncle Danny.  Smart girl!  She knows where credit goes for getting to see the beach!  :)

We got our groceries and got checked in at the condo.  Made some sloppy joes, got all cleaned up and decided we better go show the girls the beach before we get ready for bed.

It was priceless!  I wish I had taken the video camera.  Ava loved it.  Carli was more cautious but eventually she was having a ball too!

Uncle Danny showed Ava the ocean first.  The first time the water hit Ava's feet she simply squealed with delight!

Carli's reaction was much more reserved.  Ava was in absolute amazement.  :)

They had so much fun!

They jumped waves.

And then we ran through the waves!

We were probably only out there an hour but it was awesome!  Everyone was all smiles when we got back and we all slept good too!  An awesome first day for a vacation!

Sprinkler Fun

What do you do when you have promised your kids they would get to go to the beach today and turns out you got the weekend wrong?  Well, you distract them by turning on the sprinklers and letting them play in the water!

Carli going "super fast" down the wet slide.

Ava did this over and over and over.  Turns out a wet diaper makes a slide super fast for real!

You would never guess by the look on her face that she was having a blast!

Running in circles around and around and around the sprinkler!

All smiles!

Thankfully they forgave us for not going to the beach that day, but we were asked every day for the following week if it was the day we would go to the beach.  Ha!  It could have been lots worse!

Kenzie's Princess Party

Kenzie's birthday was way back on June 2nd.   She turned three and had an amazing little Pricess Party.  The girls were so excited to go to it and couldn't wait to see all the princess things.  Funny how kids are...they were so hyped about it until we got there and then they turned all shy.  Eventually they got over it and put on their little tutu's and accessories to get ready for the princess tea party!

Ava trying on her gloves.

The girls had a blast.  Kori had lots of cute activities for them to do and they loved it!  We played tea party...

We decorated our crown with stickers...

We had lip gloss in our princess goody bags and had to share with Daddy...

We played pin the crown on Princess Kenzie...

We had yummy strawberry cupcakes, ice cream and animal crackers...

And helped Princess Kenzie open lots and lots of presents!

Check out Kenzie's amazing little princess wardrobe for all her dress up clothes.  Her grandpa made it for her.  Isn't it amazing?!

The girls loved the party and all the princess goodies that they brought home.  I failed to get a good picture of the birthday girl, but trust me, she was one beautiful three year old princess!  :)

Funny story...the day of Kenzie's party was also the day we thought we were going to be leaving to go to Galvaston.  We got the car all loaded up and climbed in to head to the party and I texted Uncle Danny to let him know we were ready to go!  He msgd me back and told me I was on the ball, he would be packing all week.  Oops.  Not sure how we got the dates mixed up but were glad to figure out we were a week early before we drove five hrs to Galvaston!

It was a sure sign that the vacation was long overdue!
