Today is Kayla's birthday. To those of you who don't know who Kayla is, let me give you a brief description. Kayla is an amazing young lady who helps us out with the girls during the week. She is happy, always smiling and is the light in any room. The girls LOVE her unconditionally and are always happy to see her walk through the door. Kayla is in one word wonderful. We are so blessed to have her as a part of our family and we wanted to do something special for her for her birthday.
I asked Carli what she wanted to give Kayla for her birthday and after she was convinced that Kayla would want something other than a strawberry cake, she told me we should give her butterflies...so we did!
Carli picked out orange for her butterfly and purple for Ava's.
I was quite prepared to trace Ava's hand with a pencil and cut it out for her butterfly since last time we tried to do something with paint she flipped out on me. But I guess since this was our hands and not our feet, she was okay with it!
Here's our half done butterflies...do you see them?
After the girls went to bed, I added a little embellishment...
We decided to take the girls to the store and let them pick out one thing to give Kayla from them. It was quite funny to walk next to Carli. She'd say, "Does Kayla like bubbles? Nooooo that's Ava that likes bubbles. Does Kayla like dolls? Nooooo that's me who likes dolls." And so it went...
They finally decided on a pink and purple bucket and some foam stickers to decorate them with. They are supposed to be trash cans for Kayla and Ms Patty's new car. :)
Next we sit about decorating our buckets. Ava was not really very interested in the stickers until she found some stars. Then she sang her version of "Twinkle, twinkle, Little Star" while she put them on the bucket.
Keith was very proud that Carli picked out sports themed foam stickers. The primary colors looked really good with her pink bucket. :)
Ava and her finished bucket.

I tried to get a picture of Kayla with the girls and their gifts but go figure, Carli took a nap for Kayla and was not ready to be social before it was time for Kayla to go home. So we got a really good one of Kayla and Ava!
Happy birthday Kayla! We love you!
