Keith's First 5K

It was about a year ago in April when Keith went to the emergency room for his racing heart.  We went through six months of blood thinner meds and watching him close.  The doctor finally concluded that his heart valve issue was caused by a virus long ago and he could go about his daily activities just to make sure to listen to his body.  So in January Keith started working up to running a 5K.  I was super proud of him working through shin splints, short on time (school + work + lack of sleep) and sticking to the whole program.  He and some guys from church signed up for a 5K in Whitehouse on the weekend of his birthday.  It was his first time to run outside (thanks allergies!) and he did amazingly well!  His calf seized up on him about half way and he had to walk it out for about three minutes but he finished running and still beat his time on the treadmill at 33 minutes.

The girls and I were very proud of his accomplishment!  Now to find the next race for him to run in to keep him motivated!  I'm currently on week 4 of this whole running business...now if my old ankle injury would quit showing it's ugly face I may survive!  I have a good inspiration.  :)
