Good-Bye Beginner 1

We have been going to swimming lessons for a little over a year.  We've had our ups and downs.  At one point Carli was ready to quit but I wouldn't let her until she took the test and passed for the Beginner 1 class.  The catch was, the teacher knew that was our agreement and she simply kept Carli in Beginner 1 and worked with her past that level without giving her the test.  Our persistence paid off b/c Carli decided she really wanted to take the test so that she could move up to the next class.  Woohoo!  Carli swam the length of the pool and back three times with no problems.  She is a beautiful swimmer.  She was so very excited to get her medallion and move up to the next class!

We did not know that Ava was going to get to take the test as well and had not mentally prepared her for it.  She struggled on her first attempt to swim the length of the pool.  She made it but it wasn't pretty.  I took the chance and went over to give her a bit of a pep talk before her next try.  Thankfully, Ava is my child that really responds well to pep talks and has the ability to positive self talk herself into trying things.  Her second and third swim were fantastic and she had absolutely no problems.  What a great joy to see her face light up when she got her graduation medallion for Beginner 1.

I really enjoy Tyler Swim School.  They work hard to make classes and schedules work for us.  I really think that Carli could move up to a Beginner 3 class but given that we drive almost an hour to get to class and it would be tough to come on two separate days, they have kept the girls in the same class while continuing to work with them both at different levels.
