Introducing...

Mr. Logan King

Logan is my nephew and he is awesome. I mean, I knew he was a wonderful little boy, but that was made even more evidant to me once Carli came along.

Logan absolutely loves his cousin Carli. They are so very cute together. They give each other hugs and kisses. They talk to each other and play. I could sit back and watch them all day long if I only could.

Obviously, Logan has awesome parents who have done an amazing job of making sure that Logan knows who all his family is even though we all live at least 2 to 3 hours a part. It never takes long for Logan to warm right up to everyone and his personality to shine through.

Oh and the faces Logan can make! He has a different face for every emotion! It is pretty funny and cute.

Did I mention that Carli loves Logan?

Anyway, if you couldn't tell, we all think Logan is one awesome little boy and his parents are certainly proud of him as are we. So, today's tribute goes to Mr. Logan - because he makes us smile and we all love him just as much as Carli does!

P.S. Logan loves balls, so for his birthday Carli gave him 8 balls. Here he is trying his best to ride his new bike while holding as many balls as possible!

Sippy Cup - Check...

Folks - we know have a professional, no maybe just an amateur, sippy cup drinker! Woohoo! Carli decided on Friday that the sippy cup was not such a bad thing after all. If you give her puffs, she thinks life is wonderful! The last three days she has drank an avg of 15 oz of water/white grape juice and we have changed an extra 4 diapers more than we normally do! ha! We are relieved to have accomplished this milestone, and are working on learning to hold it ourselves...

Too Tired to Eat

In our sleeping struggle - Tuesday was not much different. Carli actually did an awesome job napping, but we are still at the point where 3 naps are too many but 2 naps just quite don't cut it. On Tuesday-Thursday we usually don't have a problem b/c she will take a power nap in the car on the way home from Alto or on the way to church. Monday's and Friday's are tough though b/c she won't take a power nap at home (this week we went to Alto on Monday and were home all day on Tuesday)...so here is a first for us...Carli fell asleep eating. It was the cutest thing. She would fall asleep - momentarily wake up to get a bite and go back to sleep. Priceless. Keith was laughing so hard at her!


We even managed to lay her on her tummy to finish out the nap...it lasted long enough for us to eat dinner. When she woke up, she was a bit freaked out b/c I guess she couldn't figure out how she got on the couch.

All first are neat, but this one is just precious. :)

Our Favorite Aunt

Carli has a favorite aunt - granted, right now she only has one aunt - but none the less she is our favorite. Aunt Chelle has been a true source of happiness for the Hays' house from the day we told everyone Carli Lynn was on her way. She answered a ton of questions from me - encouraged me when I thought the world was falling apart - shared laughs - sympathized - and most definitely was an awesome friend. When Carli arrived, she stepped right into the wonderful role of the best aunt. She sends Carli cards and little gifts. And when we get together, Carli always gives her a huge smile. Yep - Carli has the world's best aunt and we just wanted to let her know we think she is awesome!!

Party in the Crib!

Our sleep saga continues - now it seems Carli will go to bed with no problem and wake up 2 hrs later screaming. We've tried this and we've tried that...last night, I thought well, maybe the child is going through a growth spurt and she was hungry. So when she woke up, I went in and nursed her and put her back to bed with no problems secretly celebrating the victory. I then went to bed and we heard nothing from her all night. Keith went to get her up this morning and this is what we found...apparently there was a wild party in the crib last night! Her caterpillar (whom we need to find a name for) and blanket/chewy usually are at the opposite end of the crib - and she brought them all up to join her at the top of the crib.

A Week of First...

Our week has been good. Carli has had some awesome naps - and that was huge! Today was awesome. She was in such a good mood, she laughed, she played, she slept...she did not drink from a sippy cup (another story for another day). She even waved to Pappy, Naggy and Uncle Kevin on Skype. Carli is changing so fast! Enjoy our pictures of a few first....

We have a Softball Player...

Well - Maybe not quite yet - but we are hoping! Last night the Alto Softball team was playing in the Regional Finals (the game that determined who went to the state tournament) and we got to go. It helped that the game was in Rusk. Carli worked all day on getting ready for the game. She took a record two 2 hr naps. Took a cat nap on the way to the game and after a quick snack, warmed right up to everyone around her! She had a good time, smiles and laughs. It was fun. One top of that - the Alto girls won! They are going to the state tournament next week. Oh the memories! It was fun to get to watch them play and see some of the girls I use to play with. Hard to believe that next year, it will have been 10 years since I was in high school...where does the time go?

How do you wash a diaper...

For complete success - follow instructions closely:

Step 1 - Total exhuastion must be present. In our case, a road trip to and from TN. Four nights, five days away from home. A different hotel room every night + a 7 month old.

Step 2 - Find a place to stop in which your child has a dirty diaper, but there is no decent place to change her except for the car. I'm not sure which occasion this was, but it happened more than once. Carli got changed in the front seat of the car multiple times.

Step 3 - In an effort to not forget that we had a dirty diaper, place diaper in a place you will not forget it so that when the clean diaper is on, you can go in search of a trash can and not leave the diaper in the car for all to see/smell/step on.

Step 4 - With the diaper successfully changed, head out on the mission of finding a trash can. In our case, Keith put the diaper in the pocket of his cargo shorts so Carli would not grab it from him.

Step 5 - Encounter distraction. I'm not sure what the distraction was here. Probably stopped to talk or Carli started crying...but something happened and the diaper was forgotten about.

Step 6 - Get to hotel, check in, change into comfy clothes and relax. Make sure to put your clothes back into the suit case so they are not forgotten.

Step 7 - Arrive at home - get suitcases in house and crash.

Step 8 - 4 days go by and finally someone unpacks the suitcase and decides laundry is a must. Sort clothes and begin wash.

Step 9 - Move clothes from washer to dryer...notice that shorts are really, really bulky and heavy. Figure somehow a pair of someone elses short got crammed in there...start to investigate.

Step 10 - Realize this is not a pair of shorts...shake shorts hard over trash can...two totally absorbant, Huggie diapers fall into trash can.

Step 11 - Pray they were once wet diapers and wash that load of laundry a second time.

Step 12 - Record this in the Baby Book... :)
