The girls talk about Grandpa Herb all the time. Aunt Sarah (Grammy's sister) even made them a family tree book which includes lots of neat stories from every single one of their grandparents and great grandparents. A very, very awesome gift. Anyway, before we headed off to our Christmas get together with Pappy's brothers, we stopped by for a one on one visit with Grandpa Herb. Grandpa did such a good job talking to the girls and letting them get comfortable. After all, they were the center of attention and we all know how well they tend to handle that! :)
We gave Grandpa Herb a picture calender for Christmas and he flipped through each month asking questions and letting the girls come answer them for him.
We showed Grandpa Herb the girls Family Tree book. He sat and read through the whole thing. :) I had enjoyed reading the story of his life as well as Grandma Lou's. It was fun to ask questions and hear him laugh about memories from when he was younger.

I agree! It was fun to read the excerpts you sent--the whole story must be amazing! I am so thankful for family members who are willing to write down the past--and need to try to do that myself.
