Keith and the girls left to pick up Grammy & Pa and head off to play in their first state tournament game in Groesbeck at 3:45 on Monday. I was kind of bummed to not get to go but was also very tired and did not envy the two hour one way drive they were having to make! Their game was to start at 7 and they were playing a team from Mart.
The first message I got from Keith was that the Fairfield team from our district did not fair well at all in their first game, and it did not look very promising based on what they were seeing in the games going on before ours was scheduled to start.
Unfortunately, our girls were a big ball of nerves and everyone had problems fielding and hitting. They did get an out or two here and there but the other team managed to score their 7 runs almost every inning and we did not fair nearly as well.
Ava did get to play catcher in the third inning but did not get to hit. We got run ruled 21 to 6 after three. We were a bit disappointed but that's okay. Our girls are still young and they knew we lost but they really wanted a snow cone! :)
