This is my baby - Chuy. I got Chuy during my Spring semester of my Jr. Year in college in 2003. We declared Chuy's birthday as February 14th. He will be 12 on his next birthday.
Chuy is our most active dog. He maybe the oldest but he has always had the most energy. He loves to play ball with himself. He absolutely LOVES to have a plastic bag or piece of newspaper to hide his ball in and dig it out.
Chuy had a cough that we controlled with benedryl for about a month. We figured it was just allergies from having changed his environment over the last six months. But after a month we took him into the vet...thinking allergies. We walked out with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure. He has a heart murmur that is rated a high 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. :( In good news, since getting medication to take care of the fluid around his heart and hopefully prevent his heart murmur from getting worse, Chuy's cough seems to have gone away. Through all this, Chuy's personality and energy level have never changed. We are anxious to go back for his check up next month to hear that he is making good progress.
