Our Bible Coins

It's been over a year since we first made our Bible Book coins.  The girls and I painted 2 inch circle wood pieces that we found at Hobby Lobby and then I modge podged the books of the Bible on each coin.  We put the name of the book as well as a picture to go with it since the girls could not read yet. 

I was very surprised at how quickly the girls learned each book.  We started with the Old Testament and by the end of 2013 Carli could say them all.  Ava could almost say them all with a little prompting.  They saw it as a game to put the coins in the right order and then into their special box. 



 

We also made up some bigger "coins" out of CDS that we could take on trips with us since it was easier to carry around and it changed things up a bit.

We kind of slacked off with our memorization work in the spring of 2014 with the selling of our house and moving.  But now over a year later, we have gotten them out again.  I was surprised that Carli breezed right through the Old Testament with no help at all!  So we got out the New Testament coins and away we went!  Ava still is very "busy" when she works on her books but she gets the job done.  Our goal by the New Year is to be able to post a video of the girls saying all the books of the Bible!
